(Not Quite) Out to Pasture

(Not Quite) Out to PastureJust what goes through a person’s head at middle age? Does it mean that the best part of life is over? Curtis Comer has been pondering this question for quite some time now, and he has shared his musings on middle age in his regular Vital Voice column “(Not Quite) Out to Pasture.” Now, for the first time, the best of his essays have been collected into one book—(Not Quite) Out to Pasture.

At middle age, life is complicated, funny, and sometimes bittersweet. It’s all about how you look at it. In these essays, Curtis ponders what it all means—everything from losing your hair to finding a job in troubled times and all that lies between. Some of his essays are serious; some are just fun. All of them will bring a knowing smile from anyone who has reached that “certain age” where life just looks a little different at the top of the hill, but not quite over it.

Comer has been entertaining and enlightening Vital Voice readers with his online column “(Not Quite) Out to Pasture” since May 2009.  With crisp and compelling prose, the St. Louis-based writer has shared stories ranging from living in San Francisco, to life with Tim, his partner of 19-years – Colin Murphy, Editor, the “Vital Voice.”

Curtis Comers’ short stories have appeared in numerous anthologies including Ultimate Gay Erotica, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008; Best Gay Love Stories, 2005, 2006, 2007 Dorm Porn 1 and II; My First Time, Volume Five; Fast Balls, Cruise Lines, Treasure Tails, and Starf*cker. His novel, Midnight Whispers: the Black Danzig Chronicles was released in 2010, and he has just completed work on the sequel, Ghost of a Chance. He co-authored the novel Wonderland and completed work on its sequel, Desperate Husbands.
